Frequently asked questions
How much is car insurance in Kenya?
Third party (the legal minimum) is about KES 7,500 a year for a private car — the standard rate. Comprehensive cover is rated on your car’s value — roughly 4% to 4.25% for a private saloon (more for SUVs, PSVs and commercial vehicles) — so a KES 1.5M car costs about KES 64,000 a year. What is the difference between third party and comprehensive?
Third party (TPO) is the minimum required by law and only covers injury or damage you cause to others. Comprehensive also covers damage to your own car, plus theft and fire. Third party fire & theft sits in between.
Can I pay for car insurance with M-Pesa?
Yes. Once we confirm your quote you pay via an M-Pesa STK push, and your certificate is issued on DMVIC and sent to your email or WhatsApp — often within minutes, 24/7.
